Childeren with weak eyesight- how to check
As parents, we do not want our childeren with weak eyesight. Children often adapt to their weak eyesight without realizing it, making it difficult for parents to notice the issue early. However, certain habits and behaviors can be red flags. Recognizing these habits at the right time can help prevent long-term vision issues and improve your child’s academic and social life.

Sequenting frequently
If your child often squints while watching TV, reading books, or looking at distant objects, it may be a sign of weak eyesight. Squinting temporarily improves focus and clarity, which is why children with vision problems unconsciously develop this habit.
Watching screen closely
Children with poor eyesight may sit very close to the television or hold books and mobile screens just a few inches from their eyes. This compensatory behavior helps them see clearly but puts extra strain on their eyes. Encourage breaks using the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds) and get their eyes tested.
Rubbing eyes frequently
Frequent eye rubbing, especially during reading or screen time, can indicate weak eyesight or eye strain. Sometimes, children rub their eyes when trying to clear blurred vision.
Avoiding studies
If your child avoids reading, homework, or tasks requiring close focus, weak eyesight may be the reason. Instead of laziness, it might be that they are struggling to see clearly, causing frustration and avoidance.
Noticing head tilts
Children with poor vision in one eye often tilt their head to use the stronger eye or may cover one eye to see better. This is a subtle but significant habit that signals vision imbalance, strabismus (eye misalignment), or amblyopia (lazy eye)
